- 1.5 The applicant’s editorial output is not, in the view of the IFCN, controlled by the state, a political party or politician.
- 1.6 If the organization receives funding from local or foreign state or political sources, it provides a statement on its site setting out to the satisfaction of the IFCN, how it ensures its funders do not influence the findings of its reports.

Aos Fatos is a Brazilian award-winner journalistic organization launched in July 2015. Aos Fatos has grown to be one of the most innovative outlets in Latin American journalism. Its tech-savvy team of 23 multidisciplinary professionals (https://www.aosfatos.org/nossa-equipe/) adds automation solutions to a creative approach. Within the team, there are journalists, data scientists, linguists, developers, and product-thinking specialists.
The combination of journalism, social media engagement, technology and design results in groundbreaking tools to tackle misinformation, such as an algorithm that automatically monitors disinformation campaigns, conversational and monitoring bots, art and comics against misinformation and different formats for prebunking.
In 2022, Aos Fatos is covering the Brazilian presidential elections by fact-checking candidates' statements, verifying misinformation and prebunking topics related to the dispute. The team also conducts state-of-the-art investigative work against disinformation campaigns that challenge Brazil's democratic institutions. Aos Fatos also built automation solutions in order to improve our work, such as Escriba, a very accurate transcription tool, and chatbots for Telegram and Instagram.

With over 35,000 users, it is only possible to manage such interactions with automation. Fátima provides on-demand fact-checks based on linguistic patterns. If a fact-check is not found in our database, the user's demand is sent to a data center of misinformation monitoring in order to be verified.

Section 6: A commitment to an Open & Honest Corrections Policy
To be compliant on corrections policy, applicants must meet these five criteria
- 6.1 The applicant has a corrections or complaints policy that is easily visible and accessible on the organization’s website or frequently referenced in broadcasts.
- 6.2 The policy sets out clear definitions of what it does and does not cover, how major mistakes, especially those requiring revised conclusions of a fact check, are handled, and the fact that some complaints may justify no response. This policy is adhered to scrupulously.
- 6.3 Where credible evidence is provided that the applicant has made a mistake worthy of correction, the applicant makes a correction openly and transparently, seeking as far as possible to ensure that users of the original see the correction and the corrected version.
- 6.4 The applicant, if an existing signatory, should either on its corrections/complaints page or on the page where it declares itself an IFCN signatory inform users that if they believe the signatory is violating the IFCN Code, they may inform the IFCN, with a link to the IFCN site.
- 6.5 If the applicant is the fact-checking unit of a media company, it is a requirement of signatory status that the parent media company has and adheres to an open and honest corrections policy.

Since it was not possible to understand the clear intent of what Lula meant in his speech, they have removed that part of the check.
