- 1.6 If the organization receives funding from local or foreign state or political sources, it provides a statement on its site setting out to the satisfaction of the IFCN, how it ensures its funders do not influence the findings of its reports.

1. When and why was your fact-checking operation started?
We have started doing fact checking information circulating on social media since 2016, with the creation of a Selected Topic on Kompas.com, namely "Hoax or Facts?". We became part of the International Fact Checking Network and partnered with the Facebook Fact Checking program since 2018.
In today's digital and social media era, when the truth is hard to find in the sea of information, finding the truth is very relevant. Kompas.com does not want to be a part of the noise on social media. Kompas.com tries to provide an answer to the noise (voice). In order to obtain journalistic truth, we are disciplined in verifying the facts and data we get in the field or on social media. The journalistic work of Kompas.com automatically places itself as a fact-checker of any existing news mazes.
2. How many people work or volunteer in the organization and what are their roles?
In fact checking team, we have 9 reporters and 3 editors. In turns, reporters are on duty every day to monitor information circulating on social media, especially mis / disinformation and confirm or check the facts. Meanwhile, the editor is in charge of providing direction and deciding whether an upload can be fact-checked or not, and publish a fact-check article.
3. What different activities does your organization carry out?
Apart from being active in debunking mis / disinformation every day, some of our certified fact checkers also actively educate students and journalists about fact checking.
4. What are the goals of your fact-checking operation over the coming year?
We want to disseminate fact checking articles to the unserved community. This year, we plan to build a partnership with an NGO that can help educate and invite together to inform if there is mis / disinformation about the corona virus and the covid-19 vaccine.

The fact-checking work carried out by Kompas.com has been running since 2016. The Fact Check Team which was specifically formed to check the facts of information circulating on social media was carried out in 2018. Now, the Fact Check Team at Kompas.com consists of 9 reporters and 4 editors. . Fact-checkers at Kompas.com are also equipped with the ability to carry out searches related to fact-checking work.
Issues that are being clarified are misinformation that will have an impact on society and have the potential to be misleading if not corrected immediately. Monitoring of issues is carried out using tools such as Crowdtangle (to see the spread of misinformation on social media Facebook and Instagram), monitoring the crowd directly on social media, as well as messages that often spread in conversation groups.

The fact-checking work process is carried out with the following flow:
1. Monitor misinformation that spreads (social media or chat groups)
2. Identifying information: Why is it spreading so fast? Is it worth verifying, and what will be the impact on society if it is not immediately corrected?
3. Verify: conduct digital searches, verify data, or interview the authorities to confirm the information.
Verification can be done by means of a digital search, usually when confirming the distribution of a photo or video. In this process, we make use of the available tools. For example, searching for photos using Google Image Search, Yandex, and various search engines that can help verify photos. Likewise if you search for videos. In addition, there is a verification process by conducting interviews with related parties and experts in accordance with the issues to be clarified. Tracing of digital data and documents is also often carried out to verify circulating information.
After all the above processes have been carried out, the fact-check article will be published. There are two conclusions resulting from the fact-check search results on Kompas.com, namely [HOAKS] if the claims in the information circulating are completely wrong, and secondly [CLARIFICATION] if the claims in the information circulating are not completely wrong, some are incorrect, so that needs to be straightened out.

The fact-checks produced by the applicant generally don't involve the process of contacting those who made the claim, and this is very common in Indonesia hardly ever try to contact those who made the claim to seek supporting evidence because this is often not possible with online claims, and because doing so can quite unsafe for fact-checkers.

Section 6: A commitment to an Open & Honest Corrections Policy
To be compliant on corrections policy, applicants must meet these five criteria
- 6.1 The applicant has a corrections or complaints policy that is easily visible and accessible on the organization’s website or frequently referenced in broadcasts.
- 6.2 The policy sets out clear definitions of what it does and does not cover, how major mistakes, especially those requiring revised conclusions of a fact check, are handled, and the fact that some complaints may justify no response. This policy is adhered to scrupulously.
- 6.3 Where credible evidence is provided that the applicant has made a mistake worthy of correction, the applicant makes a correction openly and transparently, seeking as far as possible to ensure that users of the original see the correction and the corrected version.
- 6.4 The applicant, if an existing signatory, should either on its corrections/complaints page or on the page where it declares itself an IFCN signatory inform users that if they believe the signatory is violating the IFCN Code, they may inform the IFCN, with a link to the IFCN site.
- 6.5 If the applicant is the fact-checking unit of a media company, it is a requirement of signatory status that the parent media company has and adheres to an open and honest corrections policy.

Mechanism for correcting articles, Kompas.com follows the provisions stipulated in the Cyber Media News Coverage Guidelines issued by the Press Council.
Provisions regarding corrections or corrections to articles are regulated in Article 4, which reads:
4. Errors, corrections, and the right to reply
a. Errors, corrections, and right of reply refer to the Press Law, Code of Ethic Journalism, and the Guidelines for the Right to Reply established by the Press Council.
b. Errors, corrections, and/or right of reply must be linked to the rectified news corrected or given the right to reply.
c. In every news of corrections, and right of reply, the publish time must be stated corrections, and/or the right of reply.
For articles related to fact-checking, so far we have not found any problems that require corrections or corrections to the article. Hopefully, in the future, there will be no problems related to this.

It gave an example of a fact-check story in 2017 -- https://megapolitan.kompas.com/read/2017/10/31/10585781/ralat-telusuri-kasus-bullying-kpai-sempat-salah-datangi-sekolah -- of which conclusion had changed, and they corrected the headline and the content, with a correction note at the end of the story.
However, the corrections policy does not state clearly how major mistakes, especially those requiring conclusions of a fact-check, are handled.
