1. “Atmaskots'' began it's work on April 2020 with the purpose of correcting false or misleading information with aim of encouraging the public to engage with media more critically as well as restoring trust in objective reporting.” Atmaskots” have collaborated with the Lithuanian Facebook fact-checking project “Delfi Melo Detektorius” however “Atmaskots” aims to establish itself as an independent partner.
2. The ''Atmaskots'' team consists of one journalist and one editor who keep up with current events and check the information being shared within the public discourse. They research widely shared claims as well as contact experts. The correction to these claims and why they are false or misleading is then explained in an article or a podcast.
We have established partnership with Centre for East European Policy Studies (CEEPS), they were not involved in general fact-checks of what was debunked on Facebook and public space, but supported Delfi's content about Russian propaganda methods by providing experts and also made articles about Russian disinformation cases. To aggregate all disinformation debunking content in one place we put our fact-checking articles on one page with CEEPS partnership to provide readers larger context.
3. “Delfi” is a national media and the leading news site in Latvia. According to data, provided by media research company “Gemius”, during the month of November “Delfi” received 897 088 viewers. “Delfi” has been the leading internet news site in Latvia for years with the most prominent social media presence in Latvia, receiving the prize for most influential media site on social networks in 2015, 2016 and 2017. “Delfi” publishes more than 150 articles every day including news, analytic journalism, reportage, videos and interviews. “Delfi” has a large team experienced journalists and editors who report on social issues, government, foreign affairs, sports, culture and other subjects. The main principle of “Delfi” is reporting on current events in neutral manner, allowing the readers to come to their own conclusions.
4. In 2023 “Delfi” plans to pay special attention to fact-checking claims relating war in Ukraine and economic situation in Latvia. “Delfi” have become member of European Digital Media Observatory(EDMO) and takes part in Baltic hub by trying to centralize how we work with disinformation and how we share in EU our best practices.
